1. Never paste secrets. No customer data, passwords, or confidential information into AI tools that aren't on your approved list.
2. A human checks before it ships. AI drafts; a person reviews anything that reaches a customer or makes a decision.
3. Use approved tools. Keep a short list. New tool? Ask first.
4. Be honest about AI. Tell customers when they're interacting with an AI system.
5. Report problems. A wrong or harmful output gets flagged, not hidden.

The tools to govern first

Start with the ones that touch customers or data: chat assistants (prompt leakage), customer-facing chatbots (wrong answers as fact), meeting recorders (consent and where transcripts live), and any analytics AI handling personal data. A two-minute check on each, does it train on our data? can we delete it? is it secure?, catches most of the risk.
